WATER SUPPLY IN THE ARID REGION OF THE ASIR
Between 1962 and 1970 FAO commissioned Italconsult Spa to perform a study aimed to improve the agriculture in the arid region of Asir on the South-West of Saudi Arabia. Cotecchia was appointed by Italconsult Spa to undertake the hydrogeological study of the area and investigate the magnitude of the groundwater resources available in order to assess whether it would be economically worthwhile to go ahead to the construction of the Malaki dam. The project feasibility was successful and Cotecchia was then appointed as geological and geotechnical consultant for both stages of the design and the construction of the Malaki dam.
