COASTAL EROSION PROTECTION

The town of Campo di Mare, located within the Salento Peninsula, is part of the municipality of San Pietro Vernotico, with a predominant touristic activity facing on the Adriatic Sea. Shore line is characterized by sandy silt, locally cemented cliffs with a maximum height on sea level of about 13m. A local paved road running at the top of the cliff were interested by collapses due to the coast erosion activity. Cotecchia was appointed as designer and construction manager for the coastline re-qualification infrastructures mainly consisted in rock reinforcement and shore protection. Beach nourishment was also implemented in order to restore the natural environmental conditions.
