SLOPE STABILIZATION IN STIFF CLAYS
The town of Lucera is located on a promontory at the toe of the Duania Apennines. The hospital of the town is located on the Northern side of the town, just before the downhill at the end of which a clay quarry was active until 1970s. Due to the quarry activities, the slope below the hospital had been interested by excavation works. Since 1980 the site had been subjected to retrogressive landslide phenomena and in 1998 declared as high risk emergency site by the Italian Government. Cotecchia undertaken the slope stabilization design and works management.
