STABILIZATION AND REINFORCEMENT OF ROCK CLIFF
The town of Otranto is located within a wide bay on the southern Italian Adriatic coast. The historical part of the town is located on the Northern side of the bay where the shore line rises at about 15m above sea level, whereas on the Southern side of the bay the shore line runs at the sea level and is instead interested by the new town and the existing marina. The cliff on the northern side, mainly formed of weak interlocked and partially disturbed calcarenites rock mass, is subjected to strong erosion. Cotecchia was appointed to design the stabilization and reinforcement actions of the cliffs.
