STABILIZATION OF ARCHEOLOGICAL SITE OF SCOLACIUM
The archaeological park of Scolacium is an ancient site located on the Ionian sea, close to the Catanzaro town. Since 1982 it is under control of the Ministry of Heritage and Cultural Activities. Its importance is due to presence of more than twenty centuries of history, as Greek (VII-III BC), Roman (II BC – VII DC) and Normans (XII AC). At the end of 2000s, the theatre of Scolacium, one of the most representative of the Roman era, was under risk of sliding. Cotecchia was appointed as geological and geotechnical consultant to design preservation and stabilization actions.
