STABILIZATION OF THE TEMPLE OF GIUNONE

The Agrigento Valley of Temples represents a worldwide unicum for its archeological, historical, cultural and anthropological meaning. Due to the landslide occurred on the 1976 along the eastern side of the hill underneath the Temple of Giunone, the Civil Defense Department on behalf of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, designated a study committee to undertake the geomorphological risk assessment. As member of such commission, prof. Vincenzo Cotecchia was appointed as geological and geotechnical expert. He also undertook the stabilization and preservation design and the construction supervision.
